This assignment provides you an opportunity to become an expert on a particular country featured in the Seager Atlas. As an expert, you will teach us about the status of women in your chosen country by preparing a power point slide show.
Choose one country represented in the Atlas and study all of the maps that provide data about that country.
Reflect on course material that mentions or describes this country. (What have you learned about your chosen country in your readings and viewing?)
Gather additional information about this countrys history and/or culture. You should aim to visit at least two of the websites (under the heading Facts About Nations) mentioned on p. 35 of WW. Or two of these websites linked here:
Human Rights Watch https://www.hrw.org/ (Links to an external site.)
The World Factbook: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/resources/the-world-factbook/index.html (Links to an external site.)
com https://www.infoplease.com/world/countries (Links to an external site.)
Then: Use the following prompts to aid your thinking and to make and overarching argument regarding your chosen country and the status of women in your chose country.
What patterns emerge when you compile the pertinent data for your country?
What kinds of conditions affect womens rights in this country?
What statistics or facts seem to contradict the rest of the data? How do you make sense of this? (There is most always contradictory data.)
How does other course material or outside research explain your observations of the data provided in the Atlas?
Next: Create a power point presentation that explains the status of women in the country and that address the prompts above.
Your powerpoint should:
Using the prompts above to aid your thinking, make an overarching argument regarding your chosen country and the status of women.
Include a thesis statement or argument
Support your argument with data and evidence from the Atlas, Women Worldwide (WW), and your two webs sources chosen from p. 35 of WW and/or those linked above.
Cite your sources.
