Infrastructure Plan Part 3: Component Selection and Data Strategy

Scenario: You are the Information Technology director for your selected organization (BestBuy). You will continue to write a systems infrastructure plan for your organization; this week, you will recommend hardware and software components for your selected organization, and provide a plan for the use of big data and business intelligence (BI).

1) Create a 3 page Word document. Within the document, be sure to:

a) identify and describe the input and output devices that should be provided for computer users within your selected organization. Be sure to provide rationale for your recommendations.

b) identify and describe the types of application software that should be provided for computer users within your selected organization. Be sure to provide rationale for your recommendations.

c) identify and describe the data storage methods that your selected organization should employ (e.g., cloud, NAS, SAN, etc.) Be sure to provide rationale for your recommendation(s).

d) identify and describe the server platforms that your selected organization should employ. Be sure to provide rationale for your recommendation(s).

e) select a network type that will be implemented as part of the system infrastructure, and provide rationale for your selection.

f) explain why your organization should/should not use big data, and provide rationale based on your selected organization’s industry.

g) provide an example of how your selected organization could benefit from the use of business intelligence (BI) and data warehousing.
