Stanford Prison Study

After viewing the film, please answer the questions below.  Note that questions may be in compound form.  Although there is not a required word count for each question, you should be careful to answer each question completely and fully.

What are the effects of living in an environment with no clocks, no view of the outside world, and minimal sensory stimulation?
Consider the psychological consequences of stripping, delousing, and shaving the heads of prisoners or members of the military. What transformations take place when people go through an experience like this?
Using theory, identify how roles prisoner and guard roles emerged? Did role specialization develop? If so, how?
Using theory, identify the types of roles you witnessed in the film.  Which roles were formal and which roles were informal? Did role conflict occur?
What were the effects of the ‘special privileges’ in the jail?
Using theory, identify the types of conflict you witnessed in the film?  Explain.
After the study, how do you think the prisoners and guards felt?
